SOUTHERN FOLK AND FARM LIFE - Well...we sold the farm and moved to town.

It’s still hard for me to believe, but we did it for all the right reasons. When the Lord opens a door for you, you’d better walk through it. So we did—with joy in our hearts.

The other plot twist? He moved us to Alabama.

When I called Wade and told him, the phone line went quiet. There was a long, deep breath, followed by: “Well...when you gonna go have yer’ teeth pulled?”

That’s why we love him, right?

Back to the story. We’ve moved to Alabama, and rather than keep up some sort of ruse where Wade writes from Georgia while I sit over here in Alabama pretending not to notice, we decided it was time to expand the scope of what we’ve built together.

Georgia Folk and Farm Life has introduced us to some wonderful people, remarkable places and stories we never would have known otherwise. And Georgia has been the start of so many wonderful things for our beloved nation. Take baptism, for instance. Along the banks of the Ocmulgee is the site of the first recorded baptism in North America. There are countless other things the Peach State can claim, but washing away man’s sins is a darn good one to bring up here.

So, we’ve changed the name. Georgia Folk and Farm Life is now Southern Folk and Farm Life. Same great stories. Same front porch. Just a wider circle of friends and family.

You’ll start seeing some new names, new places and new stories around here, and we hope you’ll welcome them with the same warmth and enthusiasm you’ve shown us from the beginning. I’ve now had the privilege of calling several Southern states home—Virginia, Mississippi, Georgia, and now Alabama. And yes, we’ll even count the South’s often-unclaimed cousin, my native Texas.

Every one of those places has its own people, traditions, food, music, stories and peculiarities worth celebrating. Georgia is where this particular journey began, and we’ll never lose sight of that. We’re just making the front porch a little bigger.

Welcome to Southern Folk and Farm Life.

I have a feeling the fun is just getting started. Matt Jolley
